Lee County Branch will hold its Annual Freedom Fund Banquet.

On Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 5:30 pm, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Lee County Branch will hold its Annual Freedom Fund Banquet.

The NAACP is the nation’s oldest, largest and most widely recognized grassroots-based civil rights organization with more than 500,000 members and supporters throughout the United States and the world. The NAACP was established in 1909.  Its mission is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality for all people. It strives to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination. Heading into the 21st century, the NAACP is focused on disparities in economics, health care, education, voter empowerment and the criminal justice system while also continuing its role as legal advocate for civil rights issues.

The Lee County NAACP Branch works to uphold the mission by attending the Redistricting Training in Jacksonville, Florida. Here, Branch members have studied and worked in order to present information to voters.  Redrawing the City and County Political Boundaries will keep the African American community contiguous.  The power of the vote of the African American community is ever so important.  Therefore, the Lee County Branch became a 3rd party Voter Registration Organization. This action allows the Branch to legally register potential voters in Lee County, Florida and support the African American voter.

Last year, over 250 community leaders and advocates from Lee and Collier counties attended the event. This year we’re committed to making it an even bigger success, and I’m hoping you will help by joining hands with us.  Jim Nathan is the 2016 keynote speaker. Mr. Nathan is the CEO of the Lee Memorial Health System. His topic: Respect, Dignity, and the Health of Our Community, is sure to include interesting and helpful information. Lee Pitts of Lee Pitts Live, a stalwart of the Fort Myers community, is the Master of Ceremonies. Sam Galloway, of Sam Galloway Ford dealerships, receives the 2016 NAACP Award.

You’ll get valuable exposure and understanding by taking time to speak with others about national and local issues affecting the African American community. As a company sponsor or a sponsoring individual you are definitely an ideal partner for this venture.  In the words of MLK, “Make a career of humanity, commit yourself to the noble struggle for equal rights. You will make a greater person of yourself, a greater nation of your country, and a finer world to live in.”

We have several different packages for sponsorship.  You can choose how you would like to participate.  Individual tickets are $150.00.  We are looking forward to hearing from you.  In case you have any queries, you may contact Belinda Bruster, Chairwoman at (757) 237-5191. The NAACP Lee County Branch thanks you for your consideration and support with the endeavor.  Please make out all contributions to the Lee County NAACP: Address 3903 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd., Fort Myers, Florida 33916

Our annual Freedom Fund event will be held at the Dr. Carrie Robinson Center located at 2580 Edison Ave., Fort Myers, Florida 33916. Reception will begin at 5:30 p.m.
